PURPOSE STATEMENT

As I collate this portfolio and aim to understand its purpose and value, I intend to reflect on this enlightening but intimidating journey as a business educator through the Postgraduate Diploma. The portfolio will record my experiences, challenges, and expected achievements, while charting my course as an evolving, empathic teacher, committed to providing a holistic teaching experience that adapts to a dynamic environment.


It will include lesson plans, unit plans, reflections, and strategies to showcase my ability to incorporate a student-centered learning approach. The portfolio will also integrate theoretical underpinnings of teaching and learning in Social Sciences, while highlighting my proficiency in Business Studies content. These documents will illustrate my learning curve and how I intend to grow as a teacher in planning, executing, problem-solving, examining current teaching practices, and responding to the demands of the national curriculum.


In this portfolio, I will strive to document and reflect on my transformation and growth journey as an educator. I intend to explore how the knowledge and valuable practices gained during this program can be applied to implement meaningful, well planned, and student-centered teaching strategies. These strategies will be supported by a classroom environment deliberately shaped to foster a caring, supportive, and inclusive tone that ensures every student understands the content in a safe and engaging learning space.


I also hope that at the end of this process, I will be sufficiently motivated to engage in other professional development opportunities, as I continue my professional journey.
