My Dearest Carissa,
Do you remember Mummy as a teacher at her school? Her students adored her. You would remember feeling jealous when some claimed her to be their mom, not yours. Seeing the influence, love, and support given to her students created a spark within you that would eventually ignite. Even at 76, the bond she still shares with her past students is admirable.
Through this introspection, you realize mom is the main reason you chose to be a teacher. You aspire to follow her example to be an educator to help students achieve academic success and build meaningful relationships where they feel supported in their learning journey.
Carissa, do you remember, as a young graduate, the first thing you applied for was a teaching position? Finally, after ten long, hopeful years, you were placed into a teaching position, and the opportunity to ignite the spark your mom inspired became a reality.
Remember how you still have the Principles of Business notebook from Mr. Singh’s class? It is a testament to how his teaching style and discipline brought the content to life for you and left a lasting impression. It’s a reminder of how impactful teaching can be and the kind of business educator you are striving to become.
Remember ten years ago, when you just started teaching and your son was three years old, you were discussing with your husband the possibility of applying for the Dip Ed program? At that time, his answer was no, given the demands of his job and the dynamics of our family. It reminded you of Mom, who never had the opportunity to pursue her Dip Ed because of family commitments. Fast forward ten years, with the help of a true friend, Sunita Maharaj, you can proudly say you have finally enrolled to begin your journey.
Carissa, no matter how challenging this journey gets, don’t forget it’s your professional growth that you are most excited about developing. You know you are pursuing this academic venture for your professional growth and to continue your mom’s awesome teaching legacy. The strategies and insights you will gain through this program will help you set the tone and shape your classroom for the better and help your current students and those yet to come.
You know you love working with teenage students, inspiring them, and nurturing their potential. This journey is not just about teaching; it’s about transforming lives, starting with yours first.. You will be able to equip the students in your care with the skills they need to thrive as successful members of society. You’ve got this!
Carissa, just imagine the moment you collect that certificate, with Mom watching you graduate.
It will be a dream realized.
With love [and lots of prayers],
Carissa
