This section explores assessment design, validity, and reliability as key standards of classroom assessment. These were applied in the critique of an end-of-term test, followed by a comparison between traditional and performance assessment. A performance task and rubric were then created, along with a reflection on how both support student learning. Two benefits and two challenges of administering these tools were also examined. This experience strengthened my ability to design more aligned, student-centered assessments and will be significant for my continued growth in this area, as I move toward using alternative approaches that support deeper engagement, fairness, and real-world application.
